It is TIME to go to WAR!

2 War Games matches, the world title on the line, a falls count anywhere match, a dream singles match and the next chapter on the greatest IC Champion on all time’s run. Oh and a women’s tag title match, just for good measure. So… LET’S GET INTO IT! Here is my WWE 2K23 Universe Mode Survivor Series: WAR GAMES ppv!
Survivor Series: WAR GAMES (November Sunday Week 4 – Boston, Massachusetts)
We open up with our first of two WAR GAMES matches on the show. I really like the way they do War Games matches on this game. I had intentionally waited until playing this out to even play a War Games match, but they really get you pumped when you play one… they have the sirens going, the rules read out, everything! Top work from 2K on that I say! Anyway, for those who don’t know, this is how it works…

And this is how we line up for our opening contest…

The match opened… with the two team captains getting us underway!

Damage CTRL (Bayley & Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai) & Rhea Ripley (A) defeated Becky Lynch & Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell & ‘Michin’ Mia Yim in a WAR GAMES match
After all the goings on the last few months with Damage CTRL, and Bayley in particular not having the best of times, she led from the front here and scored the win for her team!

Next up, a match that on paper could be a classic! Two of the very best heavyweights around!

Gunther (C) defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Intercontinental Championship
And the reign… continues! Gunther marches on with another great defense, but what now for McIntyre with another big loss on PPV to follow previous defeats to Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt…?

Next is a dream match for many, and one between two of my all time favourites!

Edge defeated Tommaso Ciampa
In addition to what you can watch above, I would also have footage on the titantron of Johnny Gargano being stopped from coming to ringside during the match, having been laid out… by KEVIN OWENS! The previous actions of DIY costing them here, with Ciampa left to fend for himself without any help from Gargano, allowing for Edge to get the win!

Next up a match between two of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in recent WWE history. And a rivalry that has intensified at a rapid rate coming into this show.

The first lady of the Wyatt 6 looked to bring her crazed and demonic ways to this match, and back to the SmackDown Women’s title once again…

Whilst the champion would look to keep the reign of the Queen going…

Charlotte Flair (C) defeated Alexa Bliss in a Falls Count Anywhere match to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship
I was very happy with this match, thought it turned out great and told a perfect story. But in the end, the result was about as definite as you could get… AND STILL!

Next up is a BIG one!

The Beast looks to once again climb to the top of the mountain, years on from his most famous loss at this very PPV…

And it is by far the toughest challenge yet for the champion…

Brock Lesnar defeated Finn Balor (C) to win the WWE Championship
The ends will justify the means. That is all I’m saying…

For our penultimate match of the show, we have a Women’s Tag Title match. I have tried my best to make these titles, by a long way the worst booked championship in recent WWE history, mean something. I have tried to book proper storylines for the titles, and not just for the sake of it type matches. It’s actually the only championship I already have a full plan for up until WrestleMania… and the next step on that journey is this ‘last chance’ match… hence I felt it worthy of a spot on a big 4 PPV…

The challengers have worked their way up, and through all the obstacles Toxic Attraction have thrown at them, but now is the very last shot they will get at becoming champions…

But they come up against a formidable tag team, and despite their leader being banned from ringside the champions will be confident of continuing their run here, having beaten their opponents previously…

Kayden Carter & Katana Chance defeated Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) (C) to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – (Mandy Rose was banned from ringside)
FINALLY! After everything they’ve gotten through, it really was their time, AND NEW!

AND FINALLY… it is time for your main event!

But who would start in this star-studded match? Well, how about the biggest stars possible?

The Bloodline (Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa & Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) defeated The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & John Cena (A) in a WAR GAMES match
(JUST TO CONFIRM, THE PINFALL AT THE VERY END OF THE VIDEO FROM JEY USO ON XAVIER WOODS IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER WAS THE FINISH OF THE MATCH. I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE RECORDING SO MISSED THE ACTUAL PINFALL. APOLOGIES.)
So after loss after loss for them in recent weeks, when it came down to the big showdown, it was JEY USO who got the win for The Bloodline. What will this mean for the dynamics between The Bloodline now? What will this do for the confidence that been building within The New Day? And was this it for John Cena? You will all have to read and watch along to find out going forward, but for now THE BLOODLINE (led on this night by JEY USO) continue to run WWE!

AND THAT IS THAT! What a show Survivor Series was… new champions crowned, the heel teams winning BOTH War Games matches, and we also have a BEAST on top of the world again! Next blog is a 4 week one of just Raws and SmackDowns, but don’t worry, I’ve got a few things in my mind to keep everything exciting, and a few surprises along the way too…
Josh.
