“I have seen war, and I hate war”

That was the quote used during the video package introducing the Invasion PPV of the infamous angle from 2001. Well, I’m gonna do it BETTER! So before our big Invasion show, let’s see how we get there…

October Week 1

Raw

  • Swerve Strickland beats Finn Balor to retain the AEW Title, but also to become number 1 contender for the world heavyweight title.
  • In the post match, with The Judgement Day, Imperium and Darby/Sting/Swerve all brawling, WILL OSPREAY makes his WWE debut to save the babyfaces.
  • A returning Cody Rhodes teams with Kevin Owens to beat MJF & Ricky Starks.
  • Despite depleted numbers, Bray Wyatt accepts the challenge from House of Black to a match with the Wyatt Family.
  • NIA JAX returns to WWE, teaming with Candice LeRae to defeat Carter & Chance

SmackDown

  • A reunited Usos go down to Mox & Claudio, after interference from Wheeler Yuta. This brings out Solo Sikoa, and as The BCC retreat, Jey Uso exclaims “Next week, all of your asses belongs to THE BLOODLINE, YEEEET!”
  • A returning Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins becomes number 1 contender for the IC Title
  • Mercedes Mone vs Bianca Belair, TBS title vs WWE Women’s Title, is made official for Invasion.
  • The Elite mocks the current ways (being good guys) of The OC, which leads to AJ Styles laying out the challenge, to which the response is… “Nah…”, leaving Styles, Anderson & Gallows confused…
  • PAC reunites with The Lucha Bros to even the odds after LdF and the LwO are all part of a huge brawl following the match between Penta and Carlito

October Week 2

Raw

  • Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland defeat Finn Balor & Gunther
  • After suffering a loss to Kazuchika Okada, Randy Orton runs into Samoa Joe backstage. He asks if Joe has a problem? Joe says he does not…
  • After alerting him to his lack of numbers, House of Black appear and attack Bray Wyatt. The attempted save by Braun and Alexa is also not enough, as House of Black stand tall.
  • Drew McIntyre attacks Adam Copeland before their scheduled match.
  • After a dominant win over Indi Hartwell, Nia Jax later calls out the Raw women’s division. With particular mention of Charlotte Flair and the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley

SmackDown

  • Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins gets in between a back and forth between Roman Reigns and Jon Moxley. In the end we have Roman vs Mox set for 2 weeks time inside a steel cage for the WWE Title, and BCC vs The Bloodline at Invasion.
  • The Young Bucks win a ‘winner takes all’ match against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for the WWE tag titles (retaining the AEW tag titles). Kenny Omega and Jack Perry attack AJ Styles backstage during the match, to distract Gallows and Anderson, with Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins making the save.
  • Jamie Hayter defeats Liv Morgan (ahead of Britt & Jamie vs Liv & Becky at Invasion)

October Week 3

Raw

  • Darby Allin & STING defeat Imperium, after Swerve stops Gunther from interfering mid-match.
  •  During a video package from The Judgement Day, Finn Balor challenges Will Ospreay for a match at Invasion
  • Charlotte Flair wins a 5-way match to become number 1 contender for Rhea Ripley’s Women’s World Championship
  • Adam Copeland attacks Drew McIntyre during his match against Kevin Owens
  • Cody Rhodes and MJF keep the talking short this week, and quickly get into a huge brawl.

SmackDown

  • During a backstage interview, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is attacked by Kenny Omega and Jack Perry. He is eventually declared unable to compete, and AJ Styles is left with nobody to defend his Intercontinental Championship against… that is, until… The Elite come out with a challenger for him, which AJ quickly accepts… and that man DEFEATS Styles for the IC title… and your new Intercontinental Champion is… ADAM COLE, BAY BAY!
  • An “in-ring summit” kicks off SmackDown, with the Blackpool Combat Club on one side, and The Bloodline on the other. Eventually, Paul Heyman returns and reveals the match at Invasion will be contested under EXTREME RULES!
  • Bianca Belair, and her chosen tag partner Lyra Valkyria defeated Mercedes Mone and her partner Skye Blue. After Mone turned on Blue, before Bianca and Lyra came back for the save.

October Week 4

Raw

  • Finn Balor defeats Darby Allin. Ospreay comes out after to save Darby and Sting from The Judgment Day
  • With each man picking their Invasion opponents match tonight, MJF beats Kevin Owens before Cody Rhodes vs WARDLOW ends in DQ when MJF attacks Cody
  • Adam Copeland attacks Drew McIntyre backstage, and challenges him to a No Holds Barred match for the TNT Championship next week!
  • Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair set up their title match for next week
  • As well as Copeland vs Drew and Charlotte vs Rhea, we also have Samoa Joe vs Randy Orton, and DIY defending the tag titles against Darby and Sting set up for next week’s Raw

SmackDown

  • Roman Reigns defeats Jon Moxley in a steel cage match to retain the WWE Championship. Afterwards The BCC beat down The Bloodline to stand tall before Invasion
  • The Elite declare “we are coming for it all” ahead of their match with THE OC at Invasion
  • After beating Lyra Valkyria, Mercedes Mone is forced to flee after a cheap shot attempt on Bianca Belair nearly saw her whipped with the hair, bringing back memories of their legendary WrestleMania match.
  • Becky Lynch vs Britt Baker ends when DAMAGE CTRL (Bayley, Iyo, Asuka, Kairi, Dakota) return… but they attack Becky and Liv Morgan!
  • A returning Bobby Lashley answers Bron Breakker’s open challenge, picking up a win in his comeback match.

And so now, it is time to go to our PPV. Arguably the biggest we’ve had yet in my WWE 2K24 Universe Mode… it is time for AEW to INVADE WWE!

INVASION – Sunday October Week 4 (Las Vegas, Nevada)

So this is gonna be quite the card, full of dream matches, THREE championship matches (two of them title vs title) and book-ended by matches with factions from both companies colliding!

So… let’s get this INVASION going!

We kick things off with our opening contest, former allies colliding!

The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)) defeated The OC (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson)

A fun opener, but it’s Kenny Omega who gets the win for his team. The Elite takeover can now truly begin…

Next we re-visit an old AEW feud, with both men now very very different beings…

Cody Rhodes this time gets his revenge and finally defeats MJF!

Now it’s time for our first title match of the evening…

After trying to gain allies in recent weeks, Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter claim tag team gold, as your NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions! The beating given to them by Damage CTRL was clearly too for Liv and Becky to recover from in time to retain their titles here, and the Women’s tag belts now belong to AEW!

Following that, another dream match. Two of the very best in the world going at it!

Will Ospreay defeated Finn Balor

He has mad quite the impact since coming into WWE, but now what next for Will Ospreay? And what now for Finn and the rest of The Judgment Day? Only time will tell…

A simply HUGE Double-title match next…

A WrestleMania rematch that I (like many) thought we would eventually see again, and maybe we still will, but here and now I am making it happen!

Mercedes Mone defeated Bianca Belair in a Title vs Title match for the TBS Championship and the WWE Women’s Championship

She follows up her Queen’s Crown tournament win, by walking out of Invasion as a DOUBLE champion!

Next up… could be quite something…

So you will note, here you just see Bray and Braun… well, that’s because as confident as Bray was that ONE of his “fallen brothers” would return and be the 3rd man on his team for this match… none of them did… so it was indeed a 3 on 2 handicap match…

And despite a valiant effort, it was the House of Black who picked up the win

Next is, well… arguably one of THE biggest matches in wrestling history! Where at the end of it, one man will hold BOTH the AEW World Championship AND World Heavyweight Championship of WWE!

Gunther defeated Swerve Strickland in a Title vs Title match for the World Heavyweight Championship and the AEW World Championship

History is indeed made, as The Ring General becomes holder of TWO of the biggest championships in wrestling! How will AEW respond now that their world title is held by a WWE superstar? Seemingly now this is Gunther’s world, and we all live in it.

And finally it’s our MAIN EVENT!

Two factions that run the show in their company…

One RE-united by blood…

The other forged in it!

But in a wild wild match, it is The Bloodline who come out on top!

But the celebrations are cut short, as slowly but surely… each member of THE ELITE (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, and also Jack Perry and Adam Cole) surround the ring and take down The Bloodline.

Invasion goes off the air with The Elite standing tall.

This WAR is well and truly not over! Let the GAMES begin!

Josh.
